A government vehicle with 22 unpaid e-challans worth Rs. 131,515 was caught by Lahore Traffic Police in Ichhra during an ongoing crackdown on e-challan defaulters.
According to a traffic police spokesperson, Patrolling Officer Qaiser Kamal checked the vehicle’s e-challan record and found that the driver had violated traffic signals 22 times.
The accumulated fines amounted to Rs. 131,515. The vehicle was released after the outstanding amount was paid.
Lahore Traffic Police has intensified action against government and semi-government vehicles with unpaid e-challans and has also sent letters to defaulting government departments, asking them to clear pending fines.
Lahore Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi urged motorists to follow traffic laws to avoid e-challans. He added that action is also continuing without discrimination against those who tamper with vehicle number plates.
