Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has directed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to proceed with the acceptance of the lowest bids for importing the remaining 185,000 metric tons of wheat required by Sindh for Food Year 2026 27.
Dar chaired the seventh meeting of the Steering Committee on Wheat Imports, which reviewed progress on wheat import arrangements and directed TCP to move forward with the procurement process.
The deputy prime minister also directed the governments of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to promptly arrange the required payments and complete tripartite agreements with TCP to ensure the timely execution of the imports.
Dar said the imports would help ensure adequate wheat supplies at reasonable rates and provide relief to consumers.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for National Food Security and Research, Sindh’s food minister, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Commerce, Managing Director PASSCO, relevant provincial secretaries and senior officials from the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and TCP.
