Google Turns CC Into an AI Agent That Can Help Run Your Family

Google is testing a new version of CC, its AI agent that works across email, calendars, chats and tasks, with the service now focused on helping families organize and manage everyday household responsibilities.

The updated CC can keep track of family schedules, plan for the day ahead, and handle tasks such as filling out permission slips, preparing shopping lists, and creating weekly meal plans.

Google introduced the family-focused version of CC this week as AI companies increasingly explore how autonomous agents can assist with everyday consumer tasks.

CC Started as a Productivity Tool

Google originally introduced CC as a productivity agent connected to Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and the wider web.

It could analyze a user’s schedule and other information before sending a “Your Day Ahead” briefing to their inbox.

In May, Google also brought the feature to the Gemini app as Daily Brief.

However, Google said users increasingly wanted CC to help with household management, including children’s school schedules, sports practices, bills and meal planning. The company has now expanded CC around those family-oriented tasks.

CC Gets Its Own Google Account

CC now receives its own Google account, allowing it to collaborate directly with family members while maintaining a separate set of permissions for accessing their information.

Each family member decides what they want to share with the agent.

That can include emails about school events, sports, clubs, birthday invitations, doctor appointments, and other family activities.

Users can forward individual emails to CC through its email address or configure certain messages to be shared automatically.

They can also choose specific senders whose emails should always go to CC, such as schools, travel companies, clubs and sports teams.

CC will additionally suggest email senders that users may want to add to automatic sharing every week.

Up to Six Family Members Can Use It

Google says CC currently supports up to six family members, allowing them to share information and work with the same AI agent.

CC can track important dates and tasks before automatically adding them to a shared calendar or task list.

For example, if an orthodontist sends confirmation of an appointment or a school announces a teacher workday, CC can add the information to the family calendar.

It Can Complete Tasks for the Family

CC can also handle selected tasks instead of simply reminding users about them.

The agent can fill out permission slips and activity registration PDFs, create school supply lists, plan weekly meals, and calculate driving times between activities.

It can also create shared Google Docs and Sheets.

When information is missing, CC can ask family members for the required details.

The agent can then update its shared group memory so it can use that information for future tasks.

Powered by Gemini and Antigravity

Google says CC runs inside its own isolated cloud computer.

The agent is powered by Gemini and Google’s agentic system called Antigravity.

For now, the experiment is limited to US users aged 18 and above with personal Gmail accounts.

That restriction means children and teenagers cannot currently use CC through their own accounts. School-provided email accounts are also unsupported, even though many students use Google services and Chromebooks for school-related communication.

CC can still be useful for households involving several adults, including parents, grandparents, caregivers, nannies, and adult children living at home.

Existing CC users will receive invitations by email in the coming days to upgrade to the new version, while new users can join a waitlist for access.
