GCU Lahore, University of Regina Sign Student Exchange Agreement

Government College University (GCU) Lahore and the University of Regina (UoR), Canada, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and Student Exchange Programme Agreement (SEPA) to expand academic collaboration, joint research and student mobility.

GCU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry and UoR Associate Vice President (International) Haroon Chaudhry signed the agreements during a ceremony at GCU’s main campus on Friday.

Under the SEPA, both universities will offer exchange opportunities for up to three undergraduate students from each institution every academic year. GCU students must complete at least two years of study before applying, while UoR students must complete 30 credit hours.

The partnership will also give students access to research opportunities through Mitacs, a Canadian national research organization. Eligible students can apply for the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship, a 12-week paid program offering practical research experience in fields including technology, engineering and social sciences.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry briefed the Canadian delegation on GCU’s research programs and history. He said the university focuses not only on academics but also on skills development, character building and overall student development through co-curricular activities.
