The Punjab School Education Department has decided to take action against 41 government schools in Lahore after their Grade 9 pass rates remained below 20 percent in the annual examinations.
Show-cause notices will be issued to the heads and relevant teachers of the underperforming schools, asking them to explain the poor academic results.
The department will also review the performance of school heads, teachers, and concerned officials before deciding on further action.
Government High School Wasanpura recorded a zero percent pass rate, while fewer than 10 students passed at 27 other government schools in Lahore.
Official figures show that nearly 2,200 government schools across Punjab recorded Grade 9 pass rates below 20 percent.
The department will examine the reasons behind the weak results and determine responsibility where necessary.
The move is aimed at improving education standards, raising student performance, and ensuring accountability in poorly performing schools.
