Dubai’s Iconic Toyota Building Tenants Fined Over Illegal Partitions

Tenants leaving Dubai’s iconic Toyota Building have been fined after authorities found illegal partitions inside some apartments.

The affected tenants must clear the fines before they can complete the move-out process. They must also settle any outstanding dues with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).

According to the building management, Dubai Municipality is dealing directly with the tenants responsible for the violations.

Once the fines have been paid, tenants must complete the required clearances from Dubai Municipality and DEWA. They can then approach the building management for a final clearance certificate.

The amount of the fines and the number of affected tenants have not been disclosed.

The violations involve apartments that were divided into smaller rooms using unauthorised partitions. Such changes must meet local building and safety requirements.

The Toyota Building is officially known as the Nasser Rashid Lootah Building. The 15-storey tower stands on Sheikh Zayed Road and has been one of Dubai’s most recognisable landmarks for decades.
