Deadline Announced for Rs. 1 Billion Karachi Road Project
Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has set September 30 as the deadline to complete development work on Tori Bangash Road, describing the route as an important alternative connection between District West, Orangi, Keamari and Hub River Road.
The mayor inspected the ongoing work on Tori Bangash Road on Tuesday, while officials from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s Engineering Department briefed him on the project.
The project carries an estimated cost of around Rs. 1 billion. Wahab said the completed road would improve commuting for residents in the surrounding areas and make daily travel easier for thousands of people.
A new stormwater drain is also under construction along the road. The mayor said workers would complete the drain within the next few days before finishing the remaining roadwork. He said the stormwater drain would also improve drainage during rainfall and form an important part of the project.
Wahab directed the relevant departments to complete the road and drainage work within the deadline so residents could benefit from the project as soon as possible.
The mayor said the KMC was carrying out development projects across Karachi and aimed to complete ongoing schemes during the current year. He added that the authority was working on several projects to improve the city’s municipal infrastructure and basic facilities.
