Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Watch 6 Active, also known as the Vitality Edition, in China. The smartwatch is priced at around $52 and combines an AMOLED display, health tracking, Bluetooth calling, and long battery life.
Display and Design
The Redmi Watch 6 Active features a 1.85-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 390 × 450 pixels and up to 1,200 nits of brightness. It also supports a color Always-on Display.
The watch measures 9.9mm thick and weighs around 26 grams. Its design includes 2.5D curved glass, a flat-edged frame, a side button, and quick-release straps.
Xiaomi offers the watch in Silver, Pink Orange, and a dark Black/Gray finish. It also carries an IP68 rating for protection against dust and water.
Health, Fitness and Connectivity
The smartwatch supports more than 140 workout modes, along with automatic detection for several common exercises.
Health features include heart-rate monitoring, blood oxygen tracking, sleep monitoring, and stress tracking. The watch can also provide alerts for abnormal heart rates and low blood oxygen levels.
Bluetooth calling is supported through the built-in microphone, while quick text replies allow users to respond to messages from their wrist. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.3.
The watch also works with iPhones, allowing workout information to sync with Apple Health. Users can also control an iPhone camera remotely through the watch.
In China, QR-code payments through WeChat Pay and Alipay are planned through a software update scheduled for September.
Battery and Price
The Redmi Watch 6 Active packs a 470mAh battery.
Xiaomi claims up to 18 days of battery life under light usage, around 12 days under normal use, and approximately six days when Always-on Display and regular health tracking are enabled. In China, the smartwatch costs $52.
