Google has announced its September 2026 Android Drop, introducing five new features across Gemini, Find Hub, accessibility, and Google Messages.
Some features are available immediately, while others will roll out later depending on the Android version and country.
Gemini Can Remember Where You Put Things
Google will soon let users ask Gemini to remember where they placed important items.
The feature is designed for objects that normally do not have tracking tags attached, such as passports or spare keys.
Users can tell Gemini where they left an item and optionally include a photo. Gemini will save that information to Google Find Hub.
Later, users can ask Gemini where the item is or open the new remembered-items section inside Find Hub.
The feature requires Android 16 or newer and will be available in countries where Gemini and Find Hub are supported.
Motion Assist Aims to Reduce Motion Sickness
Google is introducing Motion Assist for devices running Android 17.
The feature displays moving bubbles over the screen that respond to the movement of the vehicle. Google says this helps reduce the difference between what users see on their screens and the movement their bodies experience while travelling.
Motion Assist can activate automatically, be added to Quick Settings, and be customized with different bubble shapes, colors, and opacity levels.
Gemini Live Gets Guided Vision
Google is also adding Guided Vision to Gemini Live.
Users can share their phone camera with Gemini to get help reading small text, viewing menus in dark environments, or identifying objects.
If the camera is not positioned correctly, Gemini provides voice instructions telling the user to move, reframe, or center the camera.
Guided Vision can be enabled through Accessibility shortcuts, the TalkBack menu, or Gemini settings.
Google says it is coming soon to Android 9 and newer in countries where Gemini is available.
Google Keep Comes to Messages
Google Messages is gaining direct integration with Google Keep.
Users can now share and update notes or grocery lists without leaving a conversation. Everyone participating in the chat can view, edit, and add items to the shared note or list.
The option is available through the “+” button inside Google Messages, and Google has already started rolling it out.
Google Messages Gets Custom Chat Themes
Google is also allowing users to give individual conversations their own backgrounds and color themes.
Users can select a wallpaper or personal photo, after which Google Messages automatically adjusts the chat bubble colors to match.
Bubble colors can also be changed manually.
Unlike some of the other September features, custom chat themes are available now in Google Messages.
