Punjab has decided to launch sports activities for boys and girls in all government schools, and the School Education Department has also issued the schedule for the competitions.
The sports programme will include hockey, badminton, table tennis and cricket, along with volleyball, athletics, chess and football.
According to the School Education Department, the competitions will be held at tehsil, district, division and provincial levels.
For this purpose, committees have also been formed at the tehsil, district, division and provincial levels. At the tehsil level, the deputy DEO will serve as convener, while the relevant head teacher will act as secretary.
At the district level, the CEO Education has been named convener of the committee. Similarly, the divisional director will head the divisional committee, while the Director Public Instruction Punjab will act as convener at the provincial level.
The department has directed all committees to issue the sports calendar by the end of September.
It said students from all government schools across Punjab will take part in the activities, and instructions have been issued to ensure full participation in the competitions.
According to the department, the purpose of the sports activities is to improve the physical and mental health of students.
