Pakistan is setting up a Shariah Advisory Board to provide guidance on transactions involving digital and virtual assets, including cryptocurrencies, Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (PVARA) Bilal Bin Saqib said a short while ago.
Speaking informally to journalists in Islamabad, Bilal said he had taken Mufti Taqi Usmani into confidence regarding digital assets and the future regulatory regime.
He said guidance was also being sought on matters related to transactions involving digital and virtual assets.
PVARA Chairman said the proposed Shariah Advisory Board will provide guidance on digital and virtual asset transactions.
He said the relevant authorities will seek the board’s guidance on whether and how such transactions comply with Shariah principles.
