200 Kg Meth Seized At Karachi Port

The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized 200 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, from a container at Karachi Port and arrested an Afghan national identified as Ehsanullah and a local facilitator, according to reports.

This comes just 2 weeks ahead of Tomorrowland DJ Axwell’s anticipated show in DHA Karachi.

During questioning, Ehsanullah provided information about drugs that had been sent to Colombo. The ANF shared the intelligence with Sri Lankan authorities and the DEA, which subsequently carried out the operation at Colombo Port.

The ANF said the case highlights its intelligence capabilities and cooperation with international agencies in combating drug trafficking. The agency also said Sri Lankan authorities and the US DEA formally appreciated its cooperation and professional capabilities.

The ANF described the network as an Afghanistan based international drug trafficking organization attempting to use Pakistani territory as a transit route for moving narcotics to international markets. It said local handlers were also arrested in the Karachi operation.

The action comes two days after Sri Lankan and US authorities announced a joint operation at Colombo Port that seized nearly half a tonne of crystal methamphetamine linked to a Pakistan based drug trafficking network.

On September 2, the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Sri Lanka’s Police Narcotics Bureau said they had recovered about 463 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in bath towels and arrested several suspects, including Pakistani nationals.

The drugs were valued at about $21 million and were allegedly intended for international markets.
