Local Cement Sales Fall in August

Cement despatches in Pakistan fell 0.70 percent year over year to 4.039 million tons in August 2026, mainly due to weaker sales from northern mills, according to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).

Domestic despatches declined 1.07 percent to 3.283 million tons, while exports increased 0.92 percent to 756,553 tons.

Northern mills recorded a sharp 9.43 percent decline in total despatches to 2.691 million tons. Their domestic sales fell 2.59 percent to 2.691 million tons, while they reported no exports during the month.

Southern mills performed better, with total despatches rising 22.97 percent to 1.35 million tons. Domestic despatches increased 6.53 percent to 591,164 tons, while exports surged 39.83 percent to 756,553 tons.

During the first two months of fiscal year 2027, total cement despatches rose 2.80 percent to 8.521 million tons. Domestic despatches increased 8.04 percent to 7.058 million tons, but exports fell 16.69 percent to 1.464 million tons.

Northern mills recorded domestic growth of 7.98 percent during July-August, but their overall despatches slipped 0.22 percent to 5.784 million tons as exports fell to zero from 440,614 tons a year earlier.

Southern mills recorded stronger growth, with total despatches increasing 9.83 percent to 2.738 million tons during the first two months. Domestic sales rose 8.28 percent, while exports increased 11.21 percent to 1.463 million tons.

APCMA expressed concern over heavy rains and flooding in northern areas. It said the damage to agriculture and housing had created additional difficulties for affected communities and called for government assistance.
