Govt Hospital Staff Allegedly Steal Rs. 260,000 Worth of Medicine and Supplies in Lahore
A theft case involving government medicines and medical supplies worth Rs. 260,000 has been reported from the emergency department of Lahore General Hospital.
According to hospital authorities, suspect Mubashir Iqbal was caught with stolen medical supplies and handed over to police for investigation.
The recovered items included antibiotics, stomach injections, surgical gloves, branulas, central venous pressure (CVP) lines and other government-provided medical supplies.
During questioning, Iqbal allegedly accused dispenser Mian Hamid Nadeem of involvement, claiming that the dispenser would call him to collect medicines.
Hospital authorities said the matter is being investigated to determine how the supplies were removed from the hospital and whether other individuals were involved.
Police have registered a first information report (FIR) against the alleged suspect and said a comprehensive investigation will be conducted.
The incident has raised concerns over the security and handling of government-funded medicines and medical supplies at public hospitals.
Authorities are expected to examine hospital records and other evidence to establish responsibility for the alleged theft.
