Pakistan’s early-stage 5G network tests delivered an average download speed of 127.74 megabits per second during the second quarter of 2026, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) Mobile Network Experience Benchmarking Report.
The report recorded an average 5G upload speed of 12.7 Mbps, while the video-experience score stood at 67.33 out of 100. The average games-experience score was measured at 62.05 out of 100.
Despite the higher speeds, users remained connected to 5G networks for only 3.95 per cent of the measured time. PTA said the time-on-network parameter measures the proportion of time users have a mobile data connection in the places they commonly visit and does not represent a network’s geographical coverage.
PTA cautioned that 5G deployment in Pakistan remained at an early stage, with limited coverage and a small user base. It said the results were indicative only and should not be treated as a conclusive assessment of overall 5G network performance in the country.
The results were based on independent measurements collected by Opensignal from real smartphone users over a 90-day period. For comparison, the national average 4G download speed stood at 18.9 Mbps across all devices and 31.3 Mbps on high-end devices, while the average upload speed was recorded at 5.32 Mbps.
