Supreme Court Upholds Widow’s Pension Right
The Supreme Court on Saturday upheld a Peshawar High Court verdict and ruled that the widow of a deceased retired employee, not his siblings, is legally entitled to receive his pension and other benefits.
According to a four-page judgment authored by Justice Shakeel Ahmad, only the widow or another person nominated under the law can receive the pension.
The court ruled that being legal heirs alone does not entitle brothers and sisters to claim pension benefits.
It further stated that pension payments can only be made in accordance with the relevant laws and rules of the concerned organisation.
