The Sindh High Court’s constitutional bench has allowed a nursing student, Nusrat, to appear in her examination and directed Dow University to make the necessary arrangements.
The permission is provisional and remains subject to the final decision on her pending constitutional petition.
During the hearing, the student’s lawyer, Muhammad Nawaz Dahri, argued that technical issues had prevented Nusrat from taking her examination, putting her academic future at risk.
He informed the court that she was enrolled in Dow University’s four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, which began in 2021 and was scheduled to conclude in 2024. He also stated that she had previously appeared in the Developmental Psychology examination.
Dow University’s lawyer told the bench that the institution had no objection to allowing the student to sit the examination provisionally, provided the permission remained subject to the petition’s final outcome.
The court subsequently directed the university to arrange for her participation. It clarified that permission to take the examination did not amount to a final decision on the constitutional petition.
The bench also ordered that the matter be listed alongside the pending petition for further proceedings.
