SECP Registers 5,241 New Companies in September

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 5,241 new companies in September 2026, bringing the total number of registered companies to 317,002. Online registrations accounted for 99.9 percent of the new incorporations.

Private limited companies accounted for 3,013 registrations, followed by 2,058 single member companies and 127 limited liability partnerships. The registrations also included 29 not-for-profit organizations, 10 public companies, two trade organizations and two foreign companies.

Punjab recorded the highest number of new registrations at 2,740, followed by Islamabad with 1,009 and Sindh with 790. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 428 new companies, while 169 were registered in Gilgit-Baltistan and 105 in Balochistan.

The information technology sector led registrations with 920 companies, followed by trading with 808 and services with 599. Construction accounted for 339 registrations, while the food sector recorded 239, tourism 222 and real estate 193.

The education sector added 189 companies, while e-commerce accounted for 179 and mining for 127. Another 1,426 companies were registered across other sectors.

September also saw participation from 167 foreign investors, with China accounting for the largest share at 113 investors, according to the SECP.

Women accounted for 14 percent of shareholders and directors, 11 percent of ultimate beneficial owners and 8 percent of chief executives, the regulator said.

SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu said company registration was an important step toward building a formal economy. He added that the commission was working to simplify the registration process to promote economic growth.
