Schools to Add Cybersecurity Subjects to Their Curriculum

The federal government has called for digital education and cybersecurity awareness in schools, colleges and universities to protect children and young people from online threats, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Thursday.

Addressing the closing ceremony of Cybersecurity Awareness Week, he said Pakistan needed a stronger regulatory framework and updated policies to keep pace with rapidly changing technology.

Tarar said digital literacy should include awareness of fake news, cyberattacks and online safety. He stressed that children needed training to recognize digital threats and protect themselves while using online platforms.

He also called for changes to educational curricula to reflect the growing importance of digital skills and cybersecurity.

The minister said the government needed to work with relevant stakeholders, hold meetings and organize training sessions to spread awareness among citizens.

He emphasized that cybersecurity information should reach people across the country, adding that young people should be encouraged to play a greater role in securing Pakistan’s digital future.
