Red Magic has officially launched the Red Magic 12 Pro+ in China with a range of hardware upgrades aimed at mobile gaming.
The new flagship combines a high-refresh-rate display, advanced cooling, a large battery, and several gaming-focused features, including dedicated shoulder triggers and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Design and Display
The Red Magic 12 Pro+ features a 6.85-inch BOE X11 OLED display with a resolution of 2,688 × 1,216 pixels and a 185Hz refresh rate.
The phone uses ultra-narrow 0.96mm bezels and does not have a punch-hole camera, giving the front a full-screen appearance.
The panel supports a 500Hz touch sampling rate and up to 5,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling. It also offers 10-bit color, 1,900 nits of global brightness and up to 5,000 nits of local peak brightness.
For eye comfort, the screen supports 2,592Hz PWM dimming at low brightness and DC-like dimming at higher brightness levels.
The phone is available in Dark Night Transparent, Silver Wing Transparent, and Ice Blue Transparent finishes.
Internals and Software
The Red Magic 12 Pro+ is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, paired with Red Magic’s RedCore R5 gaming chip and G1 display control chip.
It supports LPDDR5T memory running at up to 10,667Mbps and UFS 4.1 Pro storage.
For supported games, the phone can run simultaneous super-resolution and frame interpolation at up to 2K resolution and 185Hz.
Red Magic has equipped the phone with its ICE cooling system, which combines liquid cooling, an active cooling fan, and additional thermal materials.
The built-in fan can spin at up to 25,500rpm and carries an IPX8 water-resistance rating. The phone itself is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance.
Other gaming and connectivity features include 700Hz shoulder triggers, dual 1115E linear speakers, three microphones, an X-axis linear motor, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, an IR blaster, USB 3.2 Gen 2 and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The phone runs RedMagic OS 12 based on Android 17 and includes an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor.
Cameras
The Red Magic 12 Pro+ has a dual rear-camera setup.
Its main camera uses a 50MP sensor with optical image stabilization, while the second camera is a 50MP ultrawide.
For selfies and video calls, the phone uses a 16MP OmniVision camera placed underneath the display.
Battery and Pricing
The Red Magic 12 Pro+ packs a large 8,400mAh battery.
It supports 120W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. The phone also includes bypass charging, allowing it to draw power directly while gaming instead of continuously charging the battery.
In China, the 12GB + 256GB model costs $1,050.
The 16GB + 512GB version is priced at $1,200, while the 16GB + 1TB model costs $1,350.
Red Magic has also previewed a limited-edition Golden Saga model with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. This version features a forged-carbon cooling design.
The company has not yet announced the Golden Saga model’s price or exact release date, and international availability for the Red Magic 12 Pro+ has also not been confirmed.
