Rape and Gang-Rape Cases Rise in Lahore Compared to Last Year

Rape and gang-rape cases have increased in Lahore compared with last year, according to police data.

Police records show that 498 rape cases and 36 gang-rape cases were reported in the first eight months of 2025, up from 413 rape cases and 26 gang-rape cases during the same period last year.

This reflects an increase of about 20 percent in rape cases and 38 percent in gang-rape cases.

In the City Division, rape cases rose from 36 last year to 56 this year. In the Saddar Division, the number increased from 98 to 132. In Iqbal Town Division, rape cases went up from 46 to 80.

Model Town Division reported 98 rape cases in both years.

In gang-rape cases, Cantonment Division recorded an increase from five cases last year to nine this year. Model Town Division saw an increase from five to 10 cases.

In the Civil Lines Division, gang-rape cases rose from two to three. Iqbal Town Division reported four cases last year and six this year, while the City Division reported one case last year and two this year.
