Punjab health authorities have issued a recall of four medicine batches after provincial drug testing laboratories declared them substandard and adulterated.
The products include DryGlit syrup, Trezine tablets, Zinad tablets and Bemin tablets.
According to the notice, DryGlit 120mL syrup was found to be substandard because its ethylene glycol content exceeded permissible limits. The affected batches are S13326 and S13426, both with an expiry date of June 2028.
The remaining three products were classified as adulterated: Trezine, which contains Cetirizine 10mg, batch number 307, expiring in April 2027; Zinad, which contains Tizanidine 2mg, batch 5F001, expiring in June 2028; and Bemin, which contains Mecobalamin 500mcg, batch 093, expiring in September 2027.
Punjab authorities have instructed pharmacies, wholesalers, distributors and healthcare facilities to immediately stop dispensing the affected batches.
They have also been asked to report existing stocks and consumption records to the relevant drug inspectors.
The notice directs manufacturers and market authorisation holders to initiate recalls and submit details including a recall assessment, root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive action plans.
The provincial authorities have also called for enhanced surveillance across the medicine supply chain to ensure traceability of the affected products.
The government has advised consumers and patients to stop using the listed batches immediately, warning that they may pose a risk to health.
