The Punjab Higher Education Department has approved the provision of electric buses to 25 government colleges during the current financial year.
According to the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) Colleges, several institutions have been facing difficulties in managing fuel expenses from their available budgets.
To address the issue, the department has decided to provide electric buses under the government’s environment-friendly policy. The move is expected to improve transport facilities while reducing recurring fuel costs for the colleges.
Last year, buses were provided to 35 government colleges.
Director Public Instruction Colleges Dr. Syed Ansar Azhar said the electric buses would help save millions of rupees annually.
