Punjab Wildlife Rangers have fined TikToker Iman Ali Rs. 90,000 for allegedly promoting illegal hunting through pictures uploaded on social media.
According to a Punjab Wildlife Rangers spokesperson, the action was taken in Chakwal by Assistant Chief Wildlife Ranger Mirza Abid Hussain after Iman Ali uploaded pictures of illegal hunting on social media.
The province-wide crackdown against wildlife crimes also resulted in action against other individuals involved in illegal hunting and possession of protected birds.
Authorities recovered nearly two dozen wild birds and seized 36 netting gears used for hunting quails and falcons during the operations.
In Chakwal, a quail hunter was fined Rs. 30,000, while legal proceedings were initiated against another person for illegally keeping 14 peacocks. The recovered peacocks were shifted to Jauharabad Wildlife Park.
Across Punjab, 30 suspects were challaned during the crackdown. A total of 27 suspects were collectively fined Rs. 919,000, while cases were registered against two others.
Wildlife teams also took action against illegal hunters and traders in Sahiwal, Attock, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala, Khushab, Narowal, Multan and Nankana Sahib.
