The Punjab government has revised its transfer policy for teachers and relevant professional staff working in special education institutions to help fill vacant posts in Lahore.
Under the revised policy, the mandatory three-year tenure requirement can be relaxed if only one candidate is available for a vacant position. The condition may also be waived if a post has remained vacant for at least six months, according to official documents.
The change was introduced after officials observed that some positions were remaining vacant even though interested employees were available, as they could not qualify for transfer under the existing three-year tenure requirement.
The revised policy also clarifies that transfers will only be made against vacant posts and that posting at a particular location will not be considered an employee’s right.
Teachers and relevant professional staff will be able to submit transfer applications through the e-portal during the summer and winter vacations.
