The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a public advisory urging families to strengthen children’s online privacy and cyber safety by encouraging responsible internet use and greater parental involvement in digital activities.
The authority recommended using parental controls and age-appropriate content filters available on platforms including Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook to supervise children’s online experiences and reduce exposure to harmful content.
The regulator advised parents to have regular conversations with their children about cyberbullying, online harassment, and other digital threats, helping them recognize harmful behavior and understand how to report it through appropriate channels.
PTA also encouraged parents to monitor children’s social media activity to identify inappropriate content or unsafe interactions while educating them about the risks of sharing personal information such as their location, photographs, and other sensitive details online.
As part of its digital safety campaign, PTA further advised families to avoid storing or sharing sensitive information, including financial and health-related data, on online platforms or shared devices.
