Owners of cars with engines up to 800cc can now receive Rs. 3,000 in monthly petrol relief under the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme, based on a Rs. 100-per-litre discount on three 10-litre fuel tokens each month.
Under the revised token system, eligible 800cc car users will receive one token every 10 days. Each token covers 10 litres of petrol at a Rs. 100-per-litre discount, providing Rs. 1,000 in relief per token.
With three tokens issued over a month, the total relief comes to Rs. 3,000 on 30 litres of petrol.
The government has also revised the system for motorcycles, Qingqi rickshaws and rickshaws. Users requiring less than 5 litres of petrol can receive one token every week, giving them Rs. 500 in relief per token.
Four weekly tokens can therefore provide Rs. 2,000 in monthly relief to eligible two- and three-wheeler users.
The government is providing a Rs. 100-per-litre petrol discount to eligible motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqis and vehicles up to 800cc under the nationwide scheme.
The scheme has also been expanded to older motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws. Vehicles registered on or after January 1, 2006, are eligible for registration.
Registration SMS charges have been waived, with eligible applicants able to register by sending the required information to 9771.
The fuel relief scheme is being implemented nationwide, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
