PIMS Hospital to Open 200-Bed New Emergency Center

Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal on Monday directed authorities to make the 200-bed emergency centre at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences operational as soon as possible.

During his visit to Pims, the minister reviewed the project’s progress and was briefed on the available medical facilities and remaining work. Officials said the new emergency facility is in its final stage of completion.

Mustafa Kamal instructed the authorities to finish all cleaning, finishing and technical work to the highest standards. He said the rising patient load at Pims made the early opening of the centre necessary.

He also ordered officials to speed up the completion of PC-4 documentation to avoid further delay.

According to the briefing, the new emergency centre will include a 30-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit, a 10-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit, two operation theatres and two minor operation theatres.

The minister said the government is taking practical steps to improve emergency healthcare and strengthen the public health system.
