Pakistan’s imports from the United States surged 39 percent year-on-year to $3.27 billion in FY2025-26, according to State Bank of Pakistan.
Imports from the US rose from $2.35 billion in FY25 to $3.265 billion in FY26, while Pakistan’s exports to the US hit $6.125 billion during the same period.
Overall, Pakistan’s merchandise exports to North America increased marginally by 1.32 percent to $6.503 billion in FY26, compared with $6.418 billion a year earlier. Imports from North America rose faster, climbing 6.52 percent to $3.822 billion.
The United States remained Pakistan’s largest export market in North America, accounting for around 94 percent of the region’s total exports.
Exports to Canada declined 2.3 percent to $377.5 million, while shipments to Mexico also fell during the year.
US trade policies, including tariff measures and a reciprocal trade arrangement, encouraged Pakistan to increase imports from the United States.
Beyond North America, Pakistan’s exports to South America increased 15 percent to $402.4 million in FY26.
