Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique produced a brilliant unbeaten 160 on the third day of the second Test against the West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval, helping his team secure a 43-run first-innings lead.
The 26-year-old carried his bat throughout Pakistan’s innings of 387 after the visitors had earlier bowled out the West Indies for 344.
Abdullah Shafique faced 323 deliveries and struck 15 fours and three sixes during his marathon knock, which was also his sixth century in Test cricket.
His innings placed him among a select group of Pakistan batters to have scored 150 or more against the West Indies in the Caribbean.
Only Hanif Mohammad, Wazir Mohammad, Majid Khan and Saeed Ahmed had previously achieved the feat.

Hanif Mohammad continues to hold the record for the highest individual Test score by a Pakistan batter in the Caribbean, following his historic 337 in Bridgetown in 1958.
Pakistan resumed the post-lunch session at 333-6 and added 54 more runs before losing their final four wickets.
Abdullah Shafique received valuable support from Sajid Khan, with the pair adding 59 runs for the seventh wicket. Sajid scored 30 from 72 balls, including four boundaries, before being caught behind off Jayden Seales.
Shafique then shared a 17-run partnership with Ali Usman, who made 10 from 21 deliveries before being dismissed by Jomel Warrican in the 115th over.
Warrican was the standout bowler for the West Indies, finishing with figures of 6-112 from 46 overs. Shamar Joseph claimed two wickets, while Seales picked up one.
