Pakistan women’s cricket team secured the bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games after defeating Bangladesh by 31 runs in the third-place playoff at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on Tuesday.
Batting first, Pakistan posted 145-8 in their allotted 20 overs as Bangladesh’s bowlers kept the scoring under control.
Captain Fatima Sana led the scoring with an unbeaten 45 off 30 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes. Opener Gull Feroza scored 31 off 23 balls with six boundaries.
Aliya Riaz added a crucial 25 off 22 deliveries, including two sixes and a boundary, while Shawaal Zulfiqar contributed 17 runs.
Ritu Moni, Shorna Akter and Nahida Akter took two wickets each for Bangladesh, while Sanjida Akter Meghla claimed one.
In reply, Bangladesh could manage 114-7 in 20 overs.
Shamim Akhter remained unbeaten on 46 off 45 balls with four boundaries, while captain Nigar Sultana scored 25 off 30 deliveries. Dilara Akter added 12 off eight balls.
Umm-e-Hani was Pakistan’s standout bowler, taking 3-10 in four overs. Tasmia Rubab, Fatima Sana, Nashra Sandhu and Ayesha Zafar took one wicket each.
The 31-run victory earned Pakistan the bronze medal after a strong bowling performance restricted Bangladesh well short of the target.
