Babar Azam, Shan Masood, and Mohammad Abbas have made notable gains in the latest ICC Test rankings following their strong performances in Pakistan’s opening Test against the West Indies, despite the Green Shirts ending the match on the losing side.
In the ICC Test batting rankings, Babar Azam climbed four places from 19th to 15th with 686 rating points.
Shan Masood moved up eight positions from 44th to 36th with 590 points after scoring a century in the first Test.
However, several other Pakistan batters dropped in the rankings.
Saud Shakeel fell three places from 21st to 24th with 641 points, while wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan dropped eight positions to 26th with 638 points.
All-rounder Salman Ali Agha also fell four places to 32nd with 607 points.
Left-handed opener Imam-ul-Haq retained 53rd place, while Abdullah Shafique dropped one position to 57th with 511 points. All-rounder Aamer Jamal remained in 100th place.
Australia’s Travis Head continues to lead the ICC Test batting rankings. England’s Harry Brook is second, while his teammate Joe Root is third.
In the ICC Test bowling rankings, Mohammad Abbas recorded the biggest improvement among Pakistan players, climbing nine places from 26th to 17th with 690 rating points.
Spinner Noman Ali retained seventh place with 809 points.
Left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi dropped four places to 29th with 617 points, while spinner Sajid Khan fell one position to 35th with 545 points.
Fast bowler Hasan Ali remained in 38th place with 501 points.
Pacer Khurram Shahzad dropped one position to 52nd, while Aamer Jamal remained in 81st place.
Spinner Asif Afridi fell three places to 87th, fast bowler Mohammad Ali dropped to 93rd, and Salman Ali Agha fell four positions to 99th.
India’s Jasprit Bumrah remains the world’s top-ranked Test bowler. New Zealand’s Matt Henry is second, while Australia’s Mitchell Starc is third.
