Pakistan and the United States have seized 463 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in a joint counter-narcotics operation targeting a drug trafficking network linked to Afghanistan.
According to the US Embassy, the operation was carried out on August 30 by Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
The seized crystal meth was reportedly worth around $21 million, equivalent to approximately Rs. 5.82 billion.
The authorities intercepted suspected containers that were allegedly being prepared for shipment from Pakistan to Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The US Embassy said law enforcement agencies from Pakistan, the US and Sri Lanka also cooperated in the operation. Several suspects were arrested during the action.
The operation is part of ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and the US to combat international drug trafficking and disrupt networks involved in the movement of narcotics through the region.
The US Embassy added that Washington continues to support Pakistan’s counter-narcotics efforts, including training assistance for the country’s Anti-Narcotics Force.
