Motorway Police Seizes Huge Cache of Illegal Weapons

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have seized a large cache of illegal weapons from a car on the M-5 Motorway near Rohri, arresting two suspects who were allegedly transporting the arms from Peshawar to interior Sindh.

According to NHMP Central Region spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed, the operation began after motorway police attempted to stop a speeding suspicious vehicle. The suspects allegedly ignored clear signals to pull over at three different locations and tried to flee.

Motorway police pursued the vehicle and successfully intercepted it near Rohri.

During the search, officers recovered 14 SMG rifles, one shotgun, 23 pistols, including 19 .30 bore pistols and four 9mm pistols along with more than 18,000 rounds of ammunition, 89 extra magazines, four telescopic sights, and five mobile phones.

Police identified the arrested suspects as Ubaidullah and Abdullah, who belong to Peshawar and Kohat, respectively.

According to the spokesperson, the suspects were transporting the weapons consignment from Peshawar to interior Sindh.

The suspects, along with the seized weapons and ammunition, have been handed over to Sukkur Police for further legal action and investigation.
