MDCAT 2026 Date Changed

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced a revised schedule for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2026 following directions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The MDCAT 2026 examinations were originally scheduled to take place on August 16, 2026.

According to the PMDC, the MDCAT 2026 examination will now be held on September 20, 2026, instead of the previously announced date.

The decision was made on the instructions of the prime minister, with authorities confirming that the national entrance test for medical and dental colleges has been rescheduled accordingly.

The revised schedule comes after weeks of discussion over the entrance test, with lawmakers and students raising concerns about the examination process.

Earlier, a Senate subcommittee expressed concern over complaints related to the conduct and timing of the MDCAT, while PMDC officials informed lawmakers that around 135,000 students are expected to appear for the test this year across 36 examination cities, including 35 in Pakistan and one in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

During the Senate meeting, lawmakers also highlighted complaints from students regarding the exam syllabus and scheduling. Some candidates argued that FSc students were being tested on A-Level concepts and vice versa, while concerns were also raised about the overlap between MDCAT and intermediate examinations.

PMDC officials, however, maintained that the entrance test is conducted on a single day each year and said the schedule provides sufficient time after board examinations.

PMDC has advised aspiring medical and dental students to take note of the revised examination date and continue preparing for the test.

The council is expected to issue further updates regarding the examination schedule and related arrangements through its official channels.
