Major Update on MDCAT 2026 Retake
Amir Chishti, chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Health, has said MDCAT 2026 will be reconducted in Sindh if negligence is proven in the committee’s inquiry.
Speaking to ARY News, he said that if the investigation confirms lapses, the medical entrance test will definitely be held again in the province.
He noted that complaints of paper leaks surfaced in Sindh two years ago and the same situation has repeated this year, especially in Karachi.
Chishti said that if irregularities are proven, the responsibility will lie with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and the Sindh government.
He said those responsible should have been punished earlier, adding that hardworking students from Karachi must be given their due rights.
The MQM-P MNA also alleged that feudal lords have turned government schools in Mirpurkhas, Sukkur and Thar into their autaqs, even keeping animals there.
He said that if students from such schools are still securing top positions, they deserve praise.
Chishti said the inquiry will examine how many students appeared at various testing centres across Sindh, what happened there and what facilities were provided.
He stressed that students from Karachi and interior Sindh are equal and no one is superior to the other.
However, he said the MDCAT results, particularly from Karachi, were alarming and had prompted instructions to the health ministry.
The committee has directed the ministry to form an inquiry panel, visit IBA Sukkur and coordinate with the testing service.
A four-member professional inquiry team has left Islamabad and is expected to reach Sukkur on Friday.
Chishti said the future course of action will be decided after the committee submits its final report, adding that no MDCAT complaints have been received from anywhere else in the country except Sindh.
