KP Launches Rs. 2.6 Billion Mobile Livestock Health Program
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Thursday inaugurated the Rs2.6 billion Ehsaas-e-Bezaban Sehat Gaari program aimed at improving livestock health, strengthening farmers’ livelihoods and supporting the rural economy.
According to a briefing by the Livestock Department, the program includes 145 mobile veterinary clinics and 27 mobile laboratory testing units, supported by 202 veterinary doctors and assistants.
The mobile clinics will provide vaccination, diagnostic, treatment and emergency veterinary services at the tehsil level, making animal healthcare more accessible for farmers in remote and underserved areas.
Officials said the mobile veterinary network will also be linked with a central digital dashboard to improve monitoring, oversight and operational management.
The program additionally includes mobile milk-quality testing laboratories to monitor milk quality and detect adulteration and harmful contaminants on the spot.
Speaking at the inauguration, Afridi said the government was committed to improving the welfare of livestock and the communities that depend on the sector.
He said no farmer should be deprived of quality veterinary services because of distance and added that protecting livestock from disease and poor care was a collective responsibility.
The chief minister said the initiative was designed not only to provide treatment but also to strengthen disease prevention and improve livestock productivity.
He said livestock remains a key source of income, nutrition and financial security for millions of families across the province.
Afridi added that modern veterinary services were being brought closer to farmers so they would not have to travel long distances for treatment.
He said the livestock sector was also being modernized to create better income opportunities for farming families.
The chief minister said the mobile milk-testing labs would help strengthen quality control and ensure early detection of adulteration and contaminants.
“Healthy livestock will contribute to higher productivity and increased incomes for farming families,” he said, adding that the government’s goal is to build a province where farmers are prosperous, the rural economy is strong, livestock is healthy and people have access to safe, quality food.
