KP Launches Province-Wide Crackdown on Substandard Food

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has launched a province-wide crackdown on businesses selling substandard meat, fruits, vegetables, and other food items on the directives of Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.

As part of the campaign, Director General Kashif Iqbal Jillani led surprise inspections of slaughterhouses, butcher shops, milk shops, and other food outlets along Charsadda Road and Dalazak Road and in Faqirabad, Peshawar.

During the inspections, a milk shop was issued a warning notice for violating hygiene standards.

The director general also visited a slaughterhouse in Shah Alam on Charsadda Road, where he reviewed the existing arrangements and directed the staff to improve cleanliness and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.

Jillani instructed food safety teams across the province to intensify inspections and take strict legal action against businesses found selling substandard food products.

He warned that no compromise would be made on food quality or public health and that violators would face legal action without discrimination.

The director general also directed officials to strengthen monitoring and ensure that food safety and hygiene standards are followed during the preparation, storage, transportation, and sale of food products.

Director Operations Muhammad Yousaf and Deputy Director Peshawar Division Zeeshan Mehsud also accompanied the inspection team.
