Samsung is reportedly preparing to accelerate its foldable smartphone plans following Apple’s entry into the category with the recently announced iPhone Duo.
According to online reports citing unnamed industry sources, Samsung now expects competition in the foldable market to intensify as Apple brings more mainstream attention to the form factor.
Market analysts broadly expect Apple to become one of Samsung’s biggest competitors in foldables, while its arrival could also expand the overall market by increasing consumer interest.
Galaxy Z TriFold2 Could Arrive Earlier
The latest report claims Samsung is considering an earlier launch for the Galaxy Z TriFold2, the successor to its first tri-fold smartphone.
The new model is expected to be lighter, thinner, and more durable than its predecessor.
Samsung is also reportedly targeting the same launch price of $2,899.
Despite the accelerated schedule, the TriFold2 is still not expected to arrive before 2027.
Samsung May Also Launch a Slideable Phone
Samsung’s foldable expansion may not stop with the TriFold lineup.
The company’s first slideable smartphone is also reportedly in development and could launch around the same time as the Galaxy Z TriFold2.
Apple’s entry into foldables is expected to encourage other manufacturers to invest more aggressively in new designs as the segment gains greater visibility.
For now, Samsung has not officially confirmed the Galaxy Z TriFold2, its launch schedule, or the rumored slideable smartphone.
