Paramedical staff boycotted outpatient departments (OPDs) at four government hospitals in Larkana to protest the killing of a senior operating theater technician.
Leaders and members of the Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association’s Chandka Medical College Hospital Unit staged a sit-in outside the City OPD and raised slogans against lawlessness and rising crime in the district. They also held a demonstration and sit-in at the main gate of Jinnah Bagh.
The victim, identified as 30-year-old Fida Hussain, son of Mohammad Bakhsh Buledi, was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding assailants on Raza Shah Kabir Road while he was traveling to the hospital on his motorcycle.
The incident took place within the limits of the Civil Line police station. Hussain was a resident of the Nishtar Road area.
Larkana SSP Azhar Khan said Hussain had recently returned to work after seven days of leave. He added that police were reviewing CCTV footage and recording witness statements, while a postmortem examination was also underway.
No case had been registered and no arrests had been made until late in the evening.
