HEC Warns Citizens Against Fake Calls for Degree Attestation
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has warned citizens against fraudulent calls from individuals impersonating HEC representatives and demanding money for degree attestation, equivalence and other services.
In an advisory issued, the commission said it had received several complaints about scammers using HEC’s name to obtain money and personal information from citizens.
HEC clarified that it has not authorized any representative to contact the public for such purposes and does not provide services or request payments over the phone.
The commission also warned citizens not to share PIN codes, passwords, personal details or financial information with unknown callers.
Anyone receiving a suspicious call has been advised to report it to the relevant telecom operator’s helpline or the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
