Govt to Launch Gender Tracker System to Monitor Online Harassment of Women
A gender tracker system is being introduced to monitor online harassment of women and the unauthorized use of their images and videos, while a special portal and digital dashboard for gender-based violence have also been prepared and will be launched soon.
Chairperson Nafisa Shah presided over a committee meeting, where Acting Chairperson of the National Commission on the Status of Women, Nooreen Bano, gave a briefing on the ongoing reforms.
She said a baseline survey is underway across all four provinces to improve the commission’s complaint system. Work is also being done to make the system easier and more effective in Urdu, Sindhi, Pashto, Balochi and other languages.
She added that the commission has proposed hiring women lawyers in every province to provide legal support to women.
Nooreen Bano said the national gender dashboard will assess the situation of women through 115 indicators.
She said the target is to complete the Women Facilitation Centre in 2027, where services including NADRA, passports, health, counselling and legal assistance will be available under one roof.
She also said reports have been sought from all provincial police chiefs to ensure timely and complete data on cases registered against crimes committed against women.
According to the acting chairperson, work is also under way on the National Gender Equality Report and the gender dashboard.
