Government College University has decided to significantly reduce semester fees for several degree programs to provide students with greater access to higher education.
According to the university administration, semester fees in some departments will be cut by around 60 percent. In certain programs, the fee has been reduced from Rs68,000 to Rs30,000.
The reduction will apply to relevant departments at both the old and new campuses.
Sources said the decision was taken in view of relatively low admissions in the selected departments. The programs included in the fee relief cover Archaeology, Persian, Urdu, History and 10 other subjects.
The administration said the move would help students pursue quality education without financial barriers and is also expected to increase admissions in these programs.
Teachers praised the decision, saying the reduced fees would ease the financial burden on parents and make higher education more accessible and affordable for deserving students.
University officials said the step is aimed at promoting different academic disciplines and providing more students with the opportunity to receive quality education.
