The lack of interest among senior doctors in applying for jobs at Islamabad’s Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences has prompted the hospital administration to postpone tests for filling vacant professor posts.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the Federal Public Service Commission has decided to readvertise the posts and issued a public notice on Thursday.
The FPSC said the tests were postponed due to an insufficient number of candidates. It stated that out of six categories for professors, no applications were received for three departments.
No applications were submitted for Dermatology, Emergency Medicine and Pulmonology, while only five applications were received for Cardiac Surgery, Neonatology and Pediatric Surgery.
Phase III of the tests for filling the professor vacancies was scheduled for this year.
Under the new arrangement, candidates who have already submitted applications will not need to apply again.
