The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a man for allegedly submitting forged documents as part of an application for a US student visa.
The FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Islamabad took action following a complaint received from the US Embassy.
According to initial investigations, the suspect had paid Rs. 200,000 to an educational consultancy in Lahore for visa processing.
Investigators found that fake bank statements, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) tax records, and other documents had allegedly been prepared and submitted to the US Embassy along with the visa application.
The documents were later found to be fraudulent during verification. The FIA registered a case against the suspect and his alleged agent following the discovery.
Officials said the suspect has been arrested and an investigation is underway. The agency is also working to determine the involvement of other facilitators and individuals allegedly connected to the case.
The FIA has not yet disclosed further details about the suspect or the consultancy involved in the alleged fraud.
