FBR Launches Nationwide Mapping of Edible Oil, Ghee Producers
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched a nationwide exercise to compile a comprehensive database of edible oil and ghee producers as part of its plan to implement electronic monitoring across the sector.
In a directive issued to all Chief Commissioners Inland Revenue, the tax authority instructed field formations to conduct a detailed stocktaking of edible oil and ghee producing facilities operating within their jurisdictions, including operational, temporarily closed, and non-operational units.
The FBR said the exercise aims to develop a complete and updated database of facilities to support effective planning and implementation of the electronic production monitoring system.
Tax officials have been directed to collect detailed information on each facility, including the type of products made, packaging sizes, number of filling lines, installed production capacity, and whether refined oil is sold or dispatched in bulk.
The authority also instructed Chief Commissioners to ensure that no production or packaging facility is omitted from the exercise and that the information is verified using the latest available records and field inspections.
According to the directive, the consolidated information must be submitted to the FBR in Microsoft Excel format by July 31, 2026, with the matter accorded top priority.
