FBR Faces Huge Rs. 157 Billion Tax Collection Shortfall for October 2026
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has just one day left to collect another Rs. 157 billion to meet its October 2026 tax target after provisionally collecting Rs. 975 billion during the first 30 days of the month.
FBR’s monthly collection target stands at Rs. 1,132 billion, leaving a shortfall of Rs. 157 billion ahead of October 31.
Cumulative Shortfall Crosses Rs. 126 Billion
The provisional figures show that FBR’s cumulative collection has reached around Rs. 4,058.5 billion against a target of Rs. 4,185 billion. This leaves a shortfall of about Rs. 126.5 billion.
The gap comes a month after FBR exceeded its three-month tax collection target for the first quarter of the fiscal year. Earlier, it had missed its August target but still beat its two-month goal.
Final Figures Still Awaited
These numbers are provisional. The final revenue position for October will become clear once collections made on October 31 are counted.
A large share of FBR’s monthly revenue usually comes in on the last day of the month. The final figures are therefore expected to give a clearer picture of how the tax authority performed against its October target.
FBR is expected to complete the compilation and reconciliation of the final collection figures in the coming days.
