Pinterest is introducing a new AI-powered feature called Restyle that lets users redesign rooms and compare furniture and decor options directly inside images of their own spaces.
The feature is launching in beta in the United States and Canada and is powered by Pinterest Intelligence.
Users Can Redesign Rooms With AI
With Restyle, users can take a photo of a room and ask the AI to make changes to it.
They can add wall art, furniture, accessories, and other home decor, including items found in images on Pinterest.
Users can also change lighting, wall colors, plants, and other elements within the room.
Individual objects can be selected and replaced, erased, or edited further. Restyle can also completely change the look of a room based on a requested design style, including bohemian, industrial, whimsical, or dopamine-inspired interiors.
Pinterest Intelligence Powers the Feature
Pinterest Intelligence combines Nvidia Blackwell GPUs, Nvidia Dynamo, open-source AI models, and technology developed by Pinterest.
Pinterest said its work with Nvidia will also improve the Pinterest Assistant’s ability to handle visual search requests.
The technology is designed to turn users’ searches into signals that can be used for AI-powered discovery and shopping.
Connecting Inspiration With Shopping
AI-powered room redesign tools already exist, but Pinterest is bringing the capability directly into a platform where users already save home design and decor ideas.
By allowing people to see saved products and design ideas inside their own rooms, Pinterest could make it easier for users to move from collecting inspiration to deciding what they want to buy.
The feature could therefore help connect saved Pins with purchases by letting users visualize products in their own spaces before making a decision.
Wider Rollout Coming Next Month
Pinterest previewed Restyle during its annual Pinterest Presents event.
At the same event, the company also introduced new visual search ads, app promotion features, and other tools aimed at advertisers.
Restyle is currently available as an early preview in the US and Canada.
Pinterest plans to expand availability more broadly next month.
