Xiaomi has launched the 41mm version of its Watch S5 in China alongside the Xiaomi 18 Pro series. The new smartwatch offers a smaller option compared with the 46mm model introduced earlier this year and is the first wearable to ship with HyperOS 4.
Compact Design With a 3,000-Nit AMOLED Display
The Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm features a 1.32-inch AMOLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, designed to improve outdoor visibility.
The stainless steel watch measures 9.9mm thick and weighs 36 grams without the strap. It also features a ceramic bezel and a textured crown.
Xiaomi offers the smartwatch in Black, Sea Salt Blue, and Ceramic White.
Health and Fitness Tracking
For health monitoring, the Watch S5 41mm uses a four-LED and four-photodiode sensor array to measure heart rate and blood oxygen levels. It also has three wrist-temperature sensors with a claimed accuracy of ±0.1°C.
The temperature sensors are primarily used for menstrual-cycle tracking and ovulation prediction. The smartwatch also supports dual-band UVA and UVB monitoring to measure ultraviolet intensity and provide information about sun exposure.
The Watch S5 41mm supports more than 150 workout modes and includes a dual-frequency GNSS chip for route tracking. It also supports full-color offline maps for navigation.
A dedicated skiing mode tracks distance, altitude, maximum slope, and other activity data. The watch can also detect falls while skiing and automatically sound an alert or contact emergency services if the wearer does not respond.
HyperOS 4 and Connected Features
The smartwatch runs HyperOS 4, which introduces an updated WeChat application with voice-to-text and quick-reply functions.
It also connects with Xiaomi’s wider ecosystem, allowing users to control smart home devices, view smart doorbell feeds, and access Xiaomi vehicle features.
The Watch S5 41mm supports iOS and Apple Health syncing, although some functions remain limited to Android or Xiaomi devices.
Battery and Pricing
The smartwatch packs a 590mAh battery. Xiaomi claims up to 14 days of battery life in restricted-use mode, up to eight days with standard health monitoring, and up to five days when the always-on display is enabled alongside regular monitoring.
The Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm starts at $194 with a standard fluoroelastomer strap, while the genuine leather strap version costs $224.
