Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO has officially revealed the display specifications of the upcoming iQOO 16, claiming it will be the world’s first smartphone with a 2K resolution and 165Hz refresh rate.
The announcement came during a Samsung Display × iQOO screen technology event. The phone uses Samsung’s new 2K LEAD 2.0 OLED panel, which the two companies developed together.
First to Use M16 Luminescent Material.
The iQOO 16 will also be the first Android phone to use Samsung’s latest M16 luminescent material.
The partnership includes a custom high-refresh-rate display IC and a dedicated production line for iQOO flagship devices.
The panel can reach 1,100 nits of manual peak brightness, 2,800 nits of global peak brightness, and up to 10,000 nits of local peak brightness.
Improved Color Accuracy
iQOO says the display covers 1.24 times the P3 color gamut and receives individual calibration before shipping.
According to the company, color uniformity has improved by 39.6%, while brightness uniformity is up by 22.3% compared with the previous generation.
iQOO is also using its own color and brightness compensation system to calibrate the display at the sub-pixel level.
The company claims color accuracy of ±0.001, although independent testing will be needed to verify how that translates into real-world performance.
5000Hz Touch Sampling for Gaming
The iQOO 16 also introduces a new touch chip aimed at gaming.
It supports up to 5000Hz instantaneous touch sampling and 500Hz multi-finger touch sampling.
The phone also uses iQOO’s Q-flex control technology, which is designed to reduce the delay between a touch input and the resulting action on screen.
iQOO further claims a 100% first-frame brightness ratio, which it describes as an industry high.
Eye Protection and Dimming Features
Other display features include full-area ambient light sensing using three photosensitive sensors, an unpolarized natural-light display and full-brightness DC dimming.
The panel also supports PWM dimming at up to 3300Hz and includes a gaming glare-protection mode.
The iQOO 16 is expected to position its display as a key selling point, especially for mobile gaming, with its combination of 2K resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, high touch response, and Samsung’s latest OLED materials.
